A beach between two ponds, outside of time.

For many, Marignane is first and foremost the airport.

Right next door, however, is the Jaï beach, located between the Berre pond and the Bolmon pond.
When the mistral wind blows, windsurfers, kitesurfers, and watersports enthusiasts gather on this long, sandy beach. But on this spring Saturday, calm reigns. The locals of Marignane are enjoying the sun on this popular beach with its unique atmosphere. The disused swimming pool and its diving board, the patched-up beach huts, the palm trees attempting to create a seaside resort feel…

Everything here exudes a discreet, slightly faded, but genuine charm. The 1960s never seem far away. Living nearby, I took the time for a stroll. An hour at Jaï, to take some pictures.

Just like back then, or almost.
